Maintaining leather
Share
How often should you maintain calfskin shoes? If you buy our quality shoes, it is important to be consistent in their maintenance. The main goal is to prevent the leather from drying out and to preserve its shine. As a general rule, if you use your shoes moderately, polishing every three to four weeks is sufficient.
-
First, remove the laces and insert your shoe trees (if you don't have any, we have some for sale: Shoe Trees ) and brush your shoes to remove any traces of dust or dirt.
-
Apply a small amount of cream to the entire surface of the shoes. to restore the color and shine of your shoes. If you want to achieve a burnished effect, you can also use a slightly darker shade. This operation allows you to nourish and revive the color of the leather.
-
Brush your shoes to remove excess cream once it has rested and been absorbed.
-
You can then apply your matching colour shoe polish paste. This will give your shoes a beautiful shine. Put a little paste on your chamois leather and gently massage the leather in a circular motion. Leave the paste on for 5 to 10 minutes, then brush. Shoe polish paste does not need to "penetrate deeply", it only provides shine and waterproofing and has no nutritional function.
There you have it! With these tips we hope your shoes will last as long as possible.
Remember, leather care is very important for a pair of shoes. If they remain in good condition, you can have your shoes resoled at a shoemaker to give them a second life.
